Reverse switch location.

Post by rob381 » Fri Jan 31, 2020 12:43 pm

Hi guys, i may have to change my reverse switch but can’t seem to find it anywhere on the gearbox looking from underneath. I have removed the centre console and rubber gators from around the gear levers but the only switch i can see is for the transfer box. The car is a 04 plate 2.0 petrol grand vitara. I am assuming the switch is at fault because when it started playing up, if you fiddled around with the gear stick the lights would come on.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Regards.

Anton

Hi Anton, thanks for the info. Looks like it’s going to be an awkward job.It looks like it’s on top of the gearbox somewhere and how to get at it. Well I really don’t know as yet.As you can tell from the picture of the gearbox you can’t see it !
Thanks again.

I don't know about the grand vitara, but on my SJ413, there was enough room at the back of the engine to fairly easily get into the transmission tunnel and change mine, which was in roughly the same location on my SJ gearbox.

Hi Anton, i think i may have located it at last, it’s a little further back on top of the gearbox than i thought. Wish i had longer arms !
