Not sure about the plastic casing but I think 4 screws hold the switch assembly to the steering column.

Now I'm a bit confused because this pic shows screws top and bottom and the column bracket looks correct for this.. :er: :er:

Doesn't this depend on your sj year/model etc? Just had to get inside mine due to lighting fault - the covers (you show) are not the mount for switches on mine they just cover all the gubbins, and are fixed together with 3 small cross-head bolts (about M4 maybe, guess) into the 3 holes nearer centre of moulding, and then 2 long self-tappers into holes at front. The first 3 fix lower moulding to metal on column but do not fix the switches. On mine (a '91, spaniard) the switch blocks are seperate (left and right) and each is fixed to the bracket on column using 2 more cross-head bolts (about M4 again, guess) - these go through the plate on column into blind threaded holes in switch block.
Sounds to me you are missing a few screws but yours may be the different version anyway - all switching on one lump like Darrell's pic??

p.s. if yours sounds like mine (i.e. seperate switch blocks left and right) I can do a pic as it's still in bits
