Man, good (ish) news on the fuel front... That's certainly not right that's for sure!! Don't need a Gauge to tell ya that one!!!

When I was chasing faults on the Jimny I tried everything and it just didn't make sense... Something was going on and I didn't wanna buy a £300 part or a shit second hand part... In the end I traced it to a 30p o-ring on what looked like a high pressure relief safety blow off on the pump cradle itself!! Fcuk me that took me a while to figure......

@stimpy I'm in Bideford, North Devon.
To be honest I'm not sure quite what's supposed to happen with that fuel pressure regulator, should excess fuel be returning to the tank the whole time the pump is running? Or is that a modern injection system thing, or am I talking out of my arse?

Hey up!!
Lovely place to live but not near me...
And YES, you should see a constant flow of fuel back to the tank after the FPR . If you've got nothing then fuel pressure aint right!..
In this scenario I would do the following:
1. First listen for fuel pump on ignition - most cars will prime the line with ignition on - My Jimny does but I honestly don't know what the SJ will do. If ok then go to step 2. If you can't hear anything then plug a multi meter in and get someone to watch it. If no power then run a supply and retry. If ok then wiring / relay/fuse/ecu issue. If not ok go to 2.
2. Take existing fuel pump out and clean it - if dirty then try again.If ok after clean then issue is still dirt.
3. If clean then put some clean fuel in a container and rig the pump to run direct to the inlet on the injector rail. If all fine then lines blocked somewhere. If no good pump is shagged!..
3. Then replace lines or pump dependant upon outcome.
4. Go rag the living life out of it and enjoy!!!

Not much to report this week, other than that I had a delivery of parts courtesy of ScottieJ, top notch fella
I've been messing around trying to relocate all my tools and workbench home from work, to the considerable distress of the missus. However, I did manage to pull the gearstick tower and fish out the broken end of the bolt that keeps the gearstick from rotating, which I understand is a common thing on these.
I can just about get to my little lathe so I machined down a stainless M8 bolt to suit the groove in the gearstick, the result being that it doesn't weeble-wobble or fall down any more.
I get that piddling about with this little stuff is roughly equivalent to giving someone with impending heart failure a manicure, but... baby steps, we'll get there eventually

Managed a few hours before it got dark this afternoon.
I finally got a tachometer noise filter delivered from a 'breaking' listing on ebay, I've been chasing it for weeks.
old vs new. Ol' mate Dave had added a scotchlock into one of the wires so I just cut and joined all 3 with decent crimp connectors.
Result
Not bad for £10 and a lot of patience.
I just about had time before it got dark to fit the proper airbox Scott sold me, a bit tidier than the bistly cone filter thing.
If anyone knows what connects to the nipple on top then let me know please, else I'll blank it off.
I also swapped in the fuel pressure regulator from the EFI unit Scott sent, no difference so I'm guessing the in-tank fuel pump is either bad or clogging and not capable of making enough pressure to get the fuel recirculating back to the tank.
Next step is to drop the tank again and have an investigate, i think.

Glad the bits got to you safely.
That nipple from the airbox there’s a pipe that runs into a T piece to the PCV valve and across to the rocker cover.
I should have one if you need it. If you end up back at the pressure regulator I think I have another I could send you another to test
I’m going to carry on the big workshop sort out on Saturday so if I find any other bits that could be handy to you I’ll pop them in the post

May I say Tango91 this is a very entertaining read and has inspired me to do a similar history of the ongoing works on my 1991 Santana Samurai.
