sorry guys perhaps i just bring bad luck

was a good lil bit of offroading before it happened though! i ended up just going for a drive to find the deepest snow i could in the end

i think it was a cv by the way you couldnt steer, the crunching was coming from the drivers side wasnt it?

think scottie is right, i recently broke nearside cv joint, u will be able to spin wheels coz it is in effect a break in the drive line but the fact u say steering affected.
when the joint breaks the balls come out and jam the joint which restricts its turning movement.
exactly wot mine did, it had the turning circle of the QE2.

Boooooyaaa!!! Back on the road!
Twas the cv...i looked at my old axle as well and did the same break on the same side a year ago in the last snow outing!
so i took the driver side off the old axle and replaced the broken one on the sj!
GOOD TIMES
I think i may have to get a couple of spares just in case i do it again(which i probably will

). Might be worth fixing the other axle as well.......
anyway...... YEY ME
